New Single to Be Released October 9

Her next single, ‘It’s Not Turning Out How I Thought,’ (to be released October 9) draws chords and rhythms from a Spanish folk song. The tune features a flamenco-style clapping rhythm, Spanish guitar, layered vocals, and (of course) plenty of synth. The lyrics explore the ideas of purpose, expectations, time anxiety, and existential ruminations.

“I sang this Spanish folk song with a leftist singing group in an occupied abandoned building in old town Valencia. I loved the clapping rhythm and chords so I ran home and started writing this tune,” says Erica.

Bio

Erica is a Minneapolis-based songwriter, singer and pianist. Her original music is steeped in an introspective singer-songwriter spirit but is also synth-sprinkled and pop-leaning. She started writing her own songs when she was 12 and hasn’t stopped. She writes about love, adventures, self-discovery, perceptions of reality, and the political and social zeitgeist. She recently released This Time, her first single as a solo artist.

When she’s not playing original music with a band, Erica performs covers as a solo pianist and singer. She selects a classy mix of crowd-pleasers, new hits of today, and a few hidden gems for the true music savants. She has performed in weddings, corporate events, festivals, restaurants and breweries. She has worked as a pianist and singer on Norwegian Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line. Erica also plays keytar with Rebel Queens, a rock band based in the Twin Cities.

Playing beloved songs like Great Balls of Fire, Piano Man, Walking in Memphis and Flowers, listeners of all ages enjoy tapping their toes and singing along. Her piano bar sets offer the perfect ambiance for restaurants, breweries, wine bars, and parties.
